The goal of separating the hot section in the vortex tank is. Wort turbidity less than 10EBC; solid particles in wort less than 25mg/L. And if we want to achieve this goal, we should pay attention to some things.
1.The time of heating wort It is better to keep it short. The total time from the beginning of boiling until the wort is pumped into the whirlpool until the end of settling should not exceed 60 minutes.
Transportation of wort (1). The transfer should be smooth and gentle, and it is better to avoid cavitation, otherwise the residue will be broken. (2). The speed during transportation should not be too fast, preferably less than 5m/s. Generally, the slow speed is enough to form a good vortex inside. (3). After all the wort is transported to the whirlpool, the pump should be shut off immediately. to avoid air from entering the tank.
Wort pumping out Generally speaking, the wort needs to settle for 20-40 minutes, not less than 20 minutes. Then, the wort should be pumped out from the highest port. When the wort level is close to the top of the residue, the speed of the pump should be adjusted slower. It is better to set the speed lower than the speed of the wort flowing from the residue. This can better avoid the breaking of the residue.
Secondary liquidity of wort The speed of the wort at the inlet should preferably be within 3.5~5m/s. If the solid particles of hot bream are large, a baffle can be installed near the outlet.
