What Is Angle Seat Valve In Microbrewry

Do you now have a microbrewery?
You may need this angle seat valve when you install brewery equipment such as steam lines and glycol water lines, especially for brewing equipment with brewing systems larger than 20HL.
Typically, it can be installed at the steam inlet so that the temperature of the brewhouse can be controlled automatically.

In addition, it can be used at the glycol inlet of the fermenter mezzanine so that the fermenter can be automatically cooled.
So, let us now learn about this type of valve.

What Is Angle Seat Valve In Microbrewry

The angle seat piston valve used in breweries is a pneumatically controlled valve with a linear drive provided by a piston actuator that lifts the seal from its seat. The valve seat is set at an angle to provide the maximum possible flow when unseated. Angle-seated piston valves are particularly suitable for applications requiring high temperatures and high flow rates, such as steam or water. When used in reverse, some models of angle-seated piston valves can eliminate water hammer when operated.

How do I operate the valve?

A pneumatic valve is operated by a pilot medium with pressure, usually compressed air, but also oil or water.
The valve is equipped with a pneumatic actuator supplied by a three-way solenoid valve. The pressure of the pilot medium enters the actuator cylinder and acts on the piston, causing the seal to open or close through the valve stem. The return of the seal to its rest position is usually achieved by a return spring, which can be found in the pneumatic actuator.
In a double-acting configuration, there is no return spring and the pilot medium is used to both open and close the valve.
When the valve is in the open position, a red indicator can be seen through the sight window on top of the actuator.
The pressure range depends on the pressure of the pilot medium and the controlled medium as well as on the flow direction and also on the construction parameters of the valve, such as orifice diameter, actuator cylinder diameter and spring force.

So it is a good way to do automatic temperature control in brewery equipment.
