The Features Of The Great Agitator For Mash Tank

the blade of the mixer is long enough, wide enough, large enough, its diameter is 0.85-0.9 of the tank. more importantly, the two blades are symmetrical design.

Advantages: On the one hand, it can improve the efficiency of the agitator. On the one hand, it can improve the thermal efficiency and avoid the possibility of scorching. On the other hand, it can well attenuate the effect of shear force.

  1. The stirrer has both inclination and hole.

The advantages are A reasonable inclination angle can make the wort rotate effectively to ensure the uniform temperature of the wort.

The hole can also weaken the effect of shearing force. In addition, it can reduce the oxygen inhaled by the wort.

  1. The stirrer can be lifted

Advantages. When the wort is heated, the stirrer should be in a lower position, which can avoid part of the wort to be overheated or burnt.

When the mash is in the resting stage, the stirrer should be lifted to a higher position.

  1. Stirrer equipped with VFD

In this case, depending on different saccharification techniques, we can freely adjust and control the speed of the stirrer by VFD. At the same time, it can avoid further excessive shearing force.

The difference between polishing and pickling and passivation

It is well known that for beer brewing tanks, the inside of the tank comes into direct contact with brewing water, wort, wort or beer, so most brewers pay great attention to the polishing accuracy of the inside of the tank. Therefore, “how to improve polishing accuracy” becomes very important.

PS. Generally, we will use “RA” to indicate the polishing accuracy. the lower the RA, the higher the polishing accuracy and sanitary grade. For example, RA0.2 is better than RA0.4.

Here, let’s compare the polishing accuracy of polishing and pickling passivation, two different manufacturing techniques.

A: The manufacturing process inside the polishing tank.

  1. Roll and weld the stainless steel sheet into a cylinder and conical bottom.
  2. Surround and weld the dent plate on the cylinder and conical bottom.
  3. Polishing the inside of the cylinder. Firstly, workers polish manually to remove some obvious welding slag. Secondly, further polishing is done with professional machines with different abrasive belts, 80 mesh abrasive belt (RA=0.2mm) → 120 mesh abrasive belt (RA=0.12mm) → 240 mesh abrasive belt (RA=0.6um) → 400 mesh abrasive belt (RA=0.2um).
When the mesh belt is 240 mesh, the RA in the tank is 0.4-0.6um and the tank is sanitary enough for brewing beer. For a few strict brewers, they will require RA below 0.4um, so we will use a 400 mesh mesh belt to improve the polishing accuracy.
Polishing of the bottom of the cone. Same for the cylinder.
Polished disc-like top. Same as cylinder and cone bottom.
  4. Make and weld the top, cylinder and bottom together.

B. Fabrication process of pickling and passivation.

  1. Roll and weld the cylinder and tapered bottom.
  2. Fabricate and weld the top, cylinder and bottom together.
  3. Surround the cylinder and conical bottom with grooved plates.
  4. Fill the tank with water
  5. Weld the dimple plate
  6. Pickle and passivate the inside of the tank for 2 days. If it is winter, the time needs to be extended to 3 days to get the best reaction.
  7. After 2-3 days, clean the acid. Then the RA will be 0.2-0.3um.

Comparison of A and B.
Regarding A, when welding the dent plate on the cylinder, the cylinder is not very strong without top and bottom, so the worker needs to place the support ring on the cylinder. Otherwise, the shape of the cylinder will be easily changed.

However, for B, the dent plate of the cylinder is welded after assembling and welding the top and bottom. The cylinder is very stable and strong at this time, and you don’t need to worry too much that the welding will change the shape.

What’s more, workers will fill the tank with water before welding the dimple plate. On one hand, it can speed up the heat dissipation. On the other hand, it can better avoid carbonization.

This shows that pickling and passivation are much better than just polishing. What is your opinion, my friend? If you have a different opinion or a different manufacturing process, please feel free to contact me via the contact information below. (I look forward to talking with you.)
