Operation Instruction Of The Portable CIP Cart

The portable CIP cart is designed for the cleaning and sterilization of FV and BBT. the construction of the CIP unit is uncomplicated and consists of two tanks (caustic soda and sterilization tank), a pump, a control cabinet and the portable cart. A clean environment is the basis for beer fermentation. Therefore, the use of the CIP cart is very important and fundamental.

How to use a 100 liter CIP unit to clean a 1000 liter fermenter?

  1. Prepare at least one hour in advance.

Fill the caustic soda tank and the sterilization tank with 100 liters of clean city water, respectively.
Then add 5 kg of food grade caustic soda to the caustic soda tank to make the concentration of caustic soda liquid reach 5%. and turn on the heating button at the same time.
Then add about 100 ml of 35% hydrogen peroxide liquid in another tank to make the liquid concentration to 300-400 PPm.

  1. Wash with water for 15 minutes.

A small amount of water but more washing times – wash 3 times for 5 minutes each, drain the remaining water from the tank before the next step, keeping the outlet of the fermenter open.

  1. Caustic soda cleaning
Drain the remaining water in the fermenter and wash it with the prepared hot caustic soda solution for 15~20 minutes in circulation (when the concentration of caustic soda becomes low, more solid caustic soda needs to be added).
After this step is completed, the caustic soda solution needs to be recycled. (Pay attention to protection – it is so important to operate without protective equipment and avoid direct contact with caustic soda solution.)
  2. Wash water.
Clean city water is rinsed for 15 minutes and all the caustic soda is drained out, which is the same as the second step.
  3. H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide liquid) cleaning
Drain out the remaining water in the fermenter, then take the prepared H2O2 liquid and wash it in circulation for 15~20 minutes. After finishing this step, please close all valves of the fermenter.

Caution

A. Before operating the CIP unit, please check the power and the positive and negative rotation of the pump motor.

B. Prevent dry burning of electrical components when heating corrosive liquids and make sure the water level is always above the heating element.
C. Make sure the beer rotary valve is not closed.
D. Do not allow hot water, hypochlorous acid, chlorine gas and anything containing chlorine ions to be used to clean the fermenter.
