For microbreweries, we usually configure PID control panels. However, some customers insist on PLC control, which does allow for more automated operation. However, we usually do not recommend PLC and touch screen on FV control panel for two reasons.
1) Fermentation control is so easy and simple that PLC control is not needed because PLCs do not add much convenience to the process.
1) Fermentation control is so easy and simple that PLC control is not needed because PLC does not add much convenience to the process and, in turn, it may make the process more complicated. For example.
The touch screen cannot display both the brewery and the cellar on the same page.
Therefore, we cannot monitor the temperature of each fermenter on site unless we change the display page on the screen from the brewhouse to the cellar.
2) Temperature control in the wine cellar is very important and PID is safer because unlike PLC, if there is a problem with one PID control, the other PID controls will not be affected.
With a PLC, if there is a problem with one program, the whole program must be stopped to be fixed. That’s why PID is more suitable for wine cellars.
