Gold Coast Craft Brewery Black Hops, Australia’s current AIBA Champion Small Brewery and 2019 RQFWS Champion Brewery, is set to expand into the NSW, Victorian and South Australian beer markets in April.
The feathery craft brewery has grown rapidly over the past 24 months, culminating in the launch of its second brewery, Black Hops II, on the north end of the Gold Coast on March 2. This was achieved on the back of a record-breaking equity crowdfunding campaign.
With an on-site restaurant, Black Hops II offers a vibrant new venue for residents of the Gold Coast’s north end. But it is this 60ml on-site production brewery that has enabled the company to significantly increase its capacity to millions of liters per year.
With demand for black hops already strong at interstate venues expanding interstate and retail outlets, this increase in capacity will allow the company to supply beer in a range of new interstate locations beginning in early April. says Eddie Oldfield,
co-founder and brewery operations manager at Black Hops, “We’ve been getting a lot of attention from around the country, but our local growth enough to fill our tanks in Burley, so we couldn’t get into the southern states. with Black Hops II now in operation,
we can finally meet some of that demand.”
Black Hops will distribute the beer through a partnership with Paramount Brewing, which provides refrigeration and distribution services in Newcastle, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.
To support their expansion, Black Hops will announce their presence in Sydney, Newcastle, Melbourne and Adelaide in early April and will host a series of “tap takeover” launches.
Wednesday, April 3, at Adelaide’s Cry Baby.
Thursday, April 4, at the Alehouse Project in Melbourne.
Friday, April 5th at the Union Hotel in Newtown.
Saturday, April 6, at the Blind Monk in Newcastle.
The three Black Hops founders will be present at all of these launches, including a range of core beers and limited releases.
We will actively engage with our customer base in these NT areas to spread the Black Hops message and help our sales reps bring our beers to as many venues and stores as possible,” said Michael McGowan, founder and head expanding interstate brewer of Black Hops.
With the combined power of our Burleigh and Biggera Waters breweries, we are ready to finally make our beers available to the rest of Australia in their favorite places.” Please visit your local or bottle store.”
Black hop brewing, known as the least secretive activity in the brewing industry, is where three partners make craft beer and share everything they learn in the expanding interstate brewing process. In 2014, Dan, Eddie and Goff started making their first beer, an eggnog,
after discussing a concept about beer in a pub. Once the pilot batches came out, their attention quickly turned to making a proper commercial brew. A few months later, with a strong eggnog in the bar, they set out to build their own brewery.
In 2015, they brewed the world’s first official Call of Duty beer, Midnight Pale Ale. in 2016, they successfully raised $17,000 through a crowdfunding campaign, becoming the first Australian brewery to launch through crowdfunding. in June 2016,
they opened their first brewery in Brighhead on the Gold Coast ( Burleigh Heads) opened their original brewery and restaurant.
Following the launch event, the expanding interstate company plans to use the momentum to enter new venues and stores through a grassroots, customer-driven expansion campaign. We will actively engage with our customer base in these NT areas to spread the Black Hops message and
help our sales reps bring our beers to as many venues and stores as possible,” said Michael McGowan, founder and head brewer of Black Hops.
